Using Spintax in Your Email Messages with Symbo

Spintax, also referred to as spin syntax or spun text, is commonly used in email marketing to create versions of the same message that appear unique. Symbo lets you use spintax in your email messages to help add variety and personalization to your automated emails.

This means you can:

  • Automatically rotate through text variations in your emails

  • Significantly reduce the likelihood your emails end up in spam

How to use Spintax?

You can use spintax by surrounding words or phrases you want to be spun with two curly braces separated by vertical bars {{Hey | Hi | Hello}} . When the message is sent, each version of the message will include one of the words or phrases surrounded by the bracket.

For example, if you wanted to use multiple different variations of your CTA, you could do something like this.

Example spintax:

{{Interested? | Open to chat? | Would it be helpful if I sent over a few times? | Should I send over a few times to chat more?}}

At the time the message is sent, the phrase inside the brackets will be randomly chosen and used in the email.

Input:

{{Hey|Hello|Hi}} Beau,

Output variations:

Hey Beau,

Hello Beau,

Hi Beau,

Why use Spintax?

Using Spintax in emails can help prevent your emails from being flagged as spam by email filters, which can improve your email deliverability rates. Here's how:

Email filters use a variety of criteria to determine whether an email is spam or not, including the content of the email, the sender's reputation, and the recipient's engagement with previous emails from the sender. If an email contains certain spammy keywords or phrases, it may be flagged as spam and sent to the recipient's spam folder or blocked entirely.

Spintax can help prevent your emails from being flagged as spam by generating multiple variations of your email content, each with slightly different wording. This can make your emails appear more unique and less like spam, as email filters are less likely to detect patterns or repeated content.

Best practices

It's important to use spintax responsibly and avoid using them to generate low-quality or irrelevant content. Email filters are designed to detect spammy tactics, and if your emails are consistently flagged as spam, your sender reputation could be negatively impacted, which can harm your email deliverability rates in the long run.

Here are some best practices for using spintax to prevent your emails from being flagged as spam:

  • Only use spintags for relevant and valuable content, such as subject lines, headlines, and calls to action. Avoid using spintax for entire paragraphs or sections of your email content, as this can appear spammy.

  • Avoid spammy keywords: When using spintax, avoid using spammy keywords or phrases that are commonly associated with spam emails. Instead, focus on creating unique and valuable content that resonates with your subscribers.

  • Test your emails: Before sending your emails to your prospects, send test emails to yourself or a small group of test accounts to ensure that your emails are formatted properly.

By following these best practices, you can use spintax effectively to improve your email deliverability rates and avoid being flagged as spam by email filters.
