When you connect GoHighLevel to Symbo, you are redirected to HighLevel's authorization page to sign in and choose a sub-account. HighLevel checks the permissions of the GoHighLevel user who is signing in against the access Symbo requests. If that user's role is missing any of the required permissions, HighLevel blocks the connection and shows an error saying the user does not have the required permissions.
This is why one teammate may be able to connect while another cannot — the error is about the GoHighLevel user's role permissions, not about Symbo.
The simplest and most reliable fix is to give the connecting user the Admin role in the sub-account. Admins have every permission Symbo needs.
In GoHighLevel, open the sub-account and go to Settings → My Staff.
Click the Edit (pencil) icon next to the user who needs to connect Symbo.
Under Roles, set User Type to Account and Role to Admin, then save.
Have the user sign out of GoHighLevel and back in, then retry the connection from Symbo.
If you prefer not to make the person an Admin, edit their role permissions (Settings → My Staff → Edit user → Roles & Permissions) and enable at least the following modules, which correspond to the access Symbo requests:
Contacts — Symbo imports, searches, and updates contacts and companies (Businesses), and logs call notes.
Conversations — Symbo logs calls, SMS, and emails to the contact's conversation and reads message history.
Opportunities — Symbo reads your pipelines and creates or updates opportunities.
Workflows — Symbo lists your workflows so contacts can be added to them.
Tags — Symbo reads your tag list for filtering and syncing.
Funnels / Sites (Forms) — Symbo reads form submissions attached to contacts.
For transparency, these are the exact permissions (OAuth scopes) Symbo requests when connecting to GoHighLevel:
contacts.readonly and contacts.write — view and manage contacts
businesses.readonly and businesses.write — view and manage businesses (companies)
conversations.readonly and conversations.write — view and manage conversations
conversations/message.readonly and conversations/message.write — view and send/log messages (calls, SMS, email)
opportunities.readonly and opportunities.write — view and manage opportunities and pipelines
workflows.readonly — view workflows
forms.readonly — view form submissions
locations/customFields.readonly — view custom field definitions
locations/tags.readonly — view tags
users.readonly — view team members in the sub-account
Have the user sign out of GoHighLevel and sign back in so the new permissions take effect.
In Symbo, go to Settings → CRM and click Connect for GoHighLevel.
Sign in with the GoHighLevel user and select the sub-account (location) to connect. Symbo connects to a sub-account, not the agency account.
